Diets don't work mainly because a diet is something that you go off of. Then what?
Change they way you eat, what you eat and how much you eat.
Exercise.
Changing or managing the environment that you work in, live in and recreate in will help. Doing something new or different that you enjoy and look forward to will also help especially of you suffer from depression.
And mostly believe in yourself, educate yourself on a healthier lifestyle and don't give up.
